I imagine the health club failed because:

A) The heavenly aroma of deep-fried happiness is much too alluring for a fat kid on a treadmill.

B) No bench. Where are people supposed to sit while they’re working out?

the $10 Hostess cupcake challenge

Getting off the train at Penn Station the other morning, I noticed a cupcake and a drink sitting in the rung of an upside down ladder on the platform (pictured below). Didn’t think much of it – figured it was just an employee’s snack for later, as I see lunch bags and backpacks of NJ Transit employees stashed away on the train all the time.

Turns out this was not the case… I happened to get off at the same platform this morning (my birthday, no less, with all this cupcake excitement), and out of the corner of my eye, just before going up the stairs I noticed, again, that lil’ pipe-swirled Hostess nugget of happiness.

I realized the drink I saw before is merely an empty bottle and as for the cupcake – well, it’s just flat-out lonely. There’s something about a packaged Hostess cupcake just sitting in Penn Station, all day, everyday, being passed and ignored by thousands of people that seems wrong.

So after going back to get pictures of said cupcake, I’ve decided to let everyone know where it is:

Track 12 at Penn Station at the bottom of the stairs of the eastern-most staircase that leads to the main NJTransit area…

And I’ll give you 10 bucks to eat it. Just please send pictures…

northweast airlines

Northwest Airlines uses an outlined circle and little triangle in their logo to create a compass. And it points, as you would assume, northwest.

Now that in and of itself is fine. But the problem comes when they put the logo on the “other” side of their planes. They don’t just do a print of the logo as usual – they flip it!

The result? The compass points northeast. Which, in my humble opinion, is just downright silly. But I guess it could have been worse – they could have flipped the image along the horizontal axis…

OK, so I know… there was an “S” there. You can see it faded in the picture. But my friend Mark and I really didn’t notice it at first. Oh, by the way, these are the same folks that only accept “cash” - so at least they figured out the underline method somewhere between the register and the door.

But even if the “S” were darker, my dog doesn’t have a bike, so he wouldn’t bring one in anyway.

Wait… some people’s pets have bikes?!?! Hahaha… Satchel would look so funny trying to ride a bike. And it would have to be so SMALL!!!

So, either they actually take credit cards or you can use Monopoly money. I had normal cash with me so I didn’t get a chance to find out. But next time, I droppin’ a “500″…

I was reminded to put this post up when Alex sent me a link to a site called the “blog” of “unnecessary” quotation marks. I like it. You should definitely leave here to go read it…

NOTE: In preemptive defense of myself, the posting two after this one is not incorrect usage of quotation marks – it’s a reference to Mitch Hedberg’s “escalator temporarily stairs” joke. Watch Mitch here. But unfortunately, the escalator joke isn’t in that video. Though, you can watch a spin-off of the idea instead.
